Blue Woman

Here’s another one of my summer paintings.  Yet again, I go towards abstraction…only this time with the figure!

Blue Woman

"Blue Woman", Gouache on 12 x16 in. paper

I originally titled this “Blue Nude” – but that name was used by Henri Matisse (1869-1954).  In fact, as you may recall, I did a post about him and people in my class were comparing me to him.

This painting definitely set me apart from everyone else.  People painted, or at least tried to, realistically.  However, I went towards abstraction.  That’s a hallmark of my work, not only comics, but my drawings and paintings.  I’ve emphasized expression over form.
